How we carry out brakes
A typical brake job involves removing the wheel, inspecting the pad thickness and disc condition, replacing pads and discs where needed, lubricating sliding pins and caliper contact points, bedding the new brakes in correctly, and checking brake fluid condition. Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time and should be replaced every two years regardless of mileage — old fluid has a lower boiling point and can cause a spongy pedal under heavy braking.
Warning signs that your brakes need attention include a grinding or squealing noise when braking, a vibrating or pulsing brake pedal, the car pulling to one side under braking, a longer stopping distance than usual, or the brake warning light illuminating. Some brake pads include wear-indicator clips that squeal deliberately when they're nearly spent — treat that noise as an instruction to book, not as background noise to ignore.
Most brake replacements can be carried out on a flat, hard standing at your home or workplace — we carry a hydraulic trolley jack and axle stands as standard. We use quality branded pads and discs appropriate to your vehicle's original specification. Rear brakes on some vehicles incorporate an integrated electric parking brake that requires specialist electronic releasing — if your car has this, let us know when you book so we can confirm suitability.

FAQs about brakes
Do I need to replace all four brakes at once?
Not necessarily. Brakes are replaced in axle pairs (both fronts or both rears) to maintain balanced braking. If only one axle needs attention, it's perfectly fine to do just that pair. We'll advise you on what we find.
Can you do brakes on vehicles with electric parking brakes?
Many electric parking-brake vehicles can be serviced using a compatible scan tool to retract the rear calipers electronically. Please mention your vehicle's make and model when booking so we can confirm before arriving.
