How we carry out recovery & breakdown

When your car breaks down, the first priority is your safety — move off the road if possible, turn on your hazard lights, and keep clear of moving traffic. Once you're safe, call us. We'll come to your location and carry out a roadside diagnosis to identify the fault. Many breakdowns — a flat battery, a snapped auxiliary belt, a blown fuse, an empty fuel tank, overheating from a coolant leak — can be resolved at the roadside without a tow. We carry a range of common consumables and spare parts to handle frequent causes on the spot.

If the car can't be fixed at the roadside, we'll advise on local recovery options and assist with contacting a recovery truck where needed. For breakdowns at home or in a car park, we often have more space and time to carry out a fuller diagnosis and repair on-site. Common causes of sudden failure include alternator or battery failure (especially in cold weather), overheating (often a thermostat, water pump or head gasket issue), a snapped or slipped cam or auxiliary belt, fuel system faults, or sudden tyre damage.
